When God laid Joyland on my heart, I had no technology, no funds for a website, and no idea how the world beyond Soroti would ever hear about the children He had called us to serve. All I had was obedience a conviction that He who said “go” would also provide the way.
Back in 2020, when my wife Sarah and I left our jobs to answer God’s call, our focus was simple: love the orphaned, the abandoned, and the vulnerable children of Uganda, one child at a time. We never imagined that one day, a stranger halfway across the world would be able to see a child’s face, read their story, and feel moved to give all through a screen.
But that is exactly what God has done.
Since 2023, when we partnered with Andrew and Daniel Kareem to establish what is now Joyland Restoration Ministries, God has been faithful at every turn sending the right people, at the right time, for every need. And when the time came for Joyland to have a true online home, He did it again. What seemed impossible building a professional website, setting up secure giving, telling the stories of our children with dignity and care came together piece by piece, far beyond what our resources alone could have achieved.
I am convinced this was not our doing. It was the Lord opening doors, softening hearts, and placing the right help in our path at just the right moment. Every page that now tells our story, every child’s photo that can reach a sponsor’s heart, every gift that can now reach us securely from anywhere in the world this is a testimony to God’s provision, not ours.
To every partner, volunteer, and friend who helped make this possible: thank you. You were an answer to prayer, whether you knew it or not.
And to anyone reading this who is wondering whether God still moves in practical, everyday ways in websites and donations and ordinary help showing up just in time I can tell you: He does. He has done it for Joyland, step by step, since the very beginning.
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” Psalm 127:1
We give Him all the glory for what has been built so far and we trust Him for everything still ahead, including the Mission Center we believe He will help us raise up in Soroti.
To God be the glory.
